The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) was introduced as a step toward standardizing the admission process for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programmes across universities. CUET has provided a level playing field for students from diverse educational boards and socio-economic backgrounds, ensuring equal opportunity for all aspirants. Last year, 283 universities adopted CUET, and the number of registered candidates was 13,47,820.
By encouraging the Universities to adopt a single, national-level entrance test, CUET has streamlined admissions, reduced the reliance on varying cut-offs, and made the admission process transparent and technology-driven.
Based on feedback from past years, it is also essential to continuously improve the examination process to provide a better, more efficient and conducive environment for students taking CUET.
In this spirit, the UGC has constituted an expert committee to review the conduct of CUET-UG for 2025.
The committee has examined various aspects of the test, such as its structure, number of papers, duration of test papers, syllabus alignment, and operational logistics. The commission considered these recommendations in its meeting held on 13th November 2024.
Based on these recommendations of the expert committee, CUET-UG and CUET-PG 2025 are planned to be conducted as given below: A. CUET-UG 2025

The Common University Entrance Test CUET (UG) – 2024 will be helpful to a student in the following ways: In the past, students used to be under stress to secure more than 95% marks in the Class 12 Board Examination to get admission to the University of their Choice. With the introduction of CUET (UG) – 2024, the stress on them to secure very high marks in the one and only Board Examination stands reduced.
The Common University Entrance Test CUET (UG) will be helpful to a student in the following ways: In the past, students used to be under stress to secure more than 95% marks in the Class 12 Board Examination to get admission to the University of their Choice. With the introduction of CUET (UG), the stress on them to secure very high marks in the one and only Board Examination stands reduced. Marks given by different Boards vary widely because of the typology of questions and the scoring pattern. These things will now be standardized under CUET (UG). The question paper pattern in CUET (UG) will be objective type comprising Multiple Choice Questions and hence evaluation will be objective. In this manner, subjectivity in the evaluation of the descriptive type of papers in the traditional Class 12 exams of different Boards will not handicap the candidates from getting admission to the University of their Choice.
