About NCHM

National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT) is an autonomous body under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The Council regulates academics for B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration, popularly known as B.Sc. (Hospitality) / B.Sc. (HM) and nine other courses that are imparted at 21 Central Institutes of Hotel Management (IHM), 27 State Government IHM, 1 Public Sector Undertaking and 29 Private IHM. Besides, 13 Food Craft Institutes offer Diploma programs in core operational areas. The gateway to the programs offered by IHM is NCHM JEE. Every year NCHM JEE or IHM entrance exam is conducted in the month of April.

(A) Qualifying Examination

Candidate must have passed 10+2 system of Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent with English as one of the subjects.

(B) Age Limit

  • For candidates from General and OBC categories, upper age limit is 25 years.
  • In the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, upper age limit is 28 years.
  • Upper age limit for Physically Challenged candidates shall be reckoned as per the category he/she belongs to i.e. General/SC/ST/OBC.
  • Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/Pre-University Certificate shall be the authentic proof that will be accepted.

(C) Physical Fitness

  • ·All qualified candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate at the time of admission from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format.

(D) Reservation:

  • ·For the SC and ST categories, 15% and 7.5% seats, respectively, are reserved in Central and State Government Institutes of Hotel Management.
  • ·Candidates belonging to SC / ST categories will be required to produce the original caste/tribe certificate issued by a competent authority in the prescribed format during admission.
  • ·27% seats are reserved for candidates belonging to OBC (Non creamy layer) category in Central Institutes of Hotel Management.
  • ·Those belonging to the creamy layer of OBC are NOT entitled for reservation.
  • ·The OBC candidates (non-creamy layer) will be required to produce original OBC (Non Creamy Layer) caste certificate issued on or after April 01, 2016 by a competent authority in the prescribed format.

Exam Pattern of NCHMCT JEE

  • NCHM JEE consists of 200 objective type questions to be answered in 180 Min. / 3 Hrs.

  • Every correct answer is awarded +1 mark where as a wrong answer carries a penalty of - 0.25 (Expect for Service Sector Aptitude Section).

  • Graded marks will be awarded under “Service Sector Aptitude Section” i.e. most appropriate answer will be awarded1 mark, lesser appropriate answer will get 0.75 marks and so on. In appropriate answer in this section will be penalized with -0.25 mark.

Selection Process:

  • Seats are allotted on the basis of the marks obtained in NCHM-JEE.
